The town of Tirupati is located at a distance of 67 km from Chittoor in the southern part of Andhra Pradesh. Tirupati is popular due to the temple of Sri Venkateswara, the Lord of Seven hills. The shrine located atop a hill in a place called Trirumala has a cluster of seven hills known as Seshachalam and is positioned at an elevated height of nearly 3000ft above the sea level. Padmavati Devi Temple: The Padmavati Devi Temple is situated in the place of Tiruchanur at a distance of 5 kms from the Balaji temple premises. It is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara's consort goddess Padmavati. The temple is referred to as Alamelumangapuram and the pilgrimage travel to Tirupati is considered unfruitful if one does not pay respect to this temple.

Sri Govindarajaswami Temple: Another temple of eminence is the temple of Sri Govindarajaswami which was founded by the great saint Ramanujacharya in 1130AD. The temple is located in the heart of the town nearby to the magnificent Balaji temple and is considered an important travel attraction for the pilgrims of Tirupati.

Sri Kapileswaraswami Temple: About 3 kms to the north of Tirupati, at the foot of the Tirumala Hills stands the only temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Tourists travel the sacred place to see the wonderful water falls called the Kapili Teerthams and is sometimes referred to as the Alwar Teerthams. Sri Kalyana Venkateswaraswami Temple: 12 kms from the central place of Tirupati lies another sacred temple which is believed to be the place where Once the Lord resides. It is said that Lord Venkateswara stayed on this holy place after his marriage with Sri Padmavati Devi for some times before proceeding to Tirupati. The temple today can be spotted to the western side of Tirupati at Srinivasa Mangapuram.
